The Minnesota traffic calming database is a compilation of all projects submitted by city and county engineers in Minnesota and research findings from previous LRRB funded traffic calming studies. The database is not a comprehensive list of all traffic calming projects implemented in Minnesota. Several of the techniques listed may be classified by some communities as traffic control devices, rather than traffic calming devices.

The database presents before-and-after data (if available) along with qualitative assessments of effectiveness. While the Minnesota traffic calming database consists predominately of engineering approaches, it should be noted that many communities encourage, or require, neighborhood residents to first try an education or enforcement approach prior to implementing an engineered response.
